NOC Tier 1
TEKsystems is looking for qualified individuals to help with the monitoring of a large data network. This position provides basic remote network surveillance and first-tier troubleshooting. Tests, locates and repairs semi-complex equipment problems. Performs basic configuration and fault management for wide array of platforms in the network including ATM and Frame Relay platforms, SGSNs, and GGSN for GPRS platforms, Routers and Firewalls for TCP/IP platforms, and various Unix based servers for the data network.
This team conducts routine remote surveillance and tier 1 maintenance activities for all network nodes in the data network, supporting the network performance and reliability initiatives. Performs fault isolation related to equipment and facility trouble. With brief instruction monitors network alarms, performs fault isolation testing, troubleshooting and fault diagnosis for data platforms. Creates and responds to Remedy work orders and trouble tickets by conducting basic triage and dispatching site specific Switch Technicians and/or contacting the appropriate Engineer in the Tier 2 organizations for resolution. Escalates trouble tickets with third party vendors such as telco and third party data companies.
Works with more senior-level technicians to gain working knowledge of
how to complete more complex troubleshooting and repair functions; learns to provide support on large scale outages and disaster recovery calls. Uses resource documentation for reference and troubleshooting network problems. Normally follows established procedures on routine work, requires instructions only on new assignments.
